The Chief Justice of the DPP Party, the United Development Party (PPP), Ade Irfan Pulungan, stated that the nomination of Ganjar Pranowo by PPP united the ideology of nationalism and Islam.
“Since the early days of independence, the New Order until the reformation period, cooperation between nationalist and Islamic parties has always taken place. Currently this cooperation is well maintained by PDIP and PPP,” he said when contacted in Jakarta, Monday (1/5).
PDIP and PPP cooperation does not only occur in the presidential election, but is practiced in all lines of democracy. Many Pilkada reflect PDIP – PPP cooperation.
“One of the most phenomenal is the PDIP – PPP coalition in the 2018 Central Java Pilkada which paired Ganjar Pranowo – Gus Taj Yasin Maimoen,” he explained.
“History also records the Megawati-Hamzah Haz pair who were once President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. This is the PDIP-PPP pair that these two parties will always remember,” he said.
According to Irfan, the relationship between PDIP and PPP has been very harmonious and mutually respectful. Figures from the two parties on many occasions and at different times respected each other. Such as Megawati Soekarnoputri’s closeness to PPP senior figures, namely Ismail Hasan Metareum (ex. Ketum PPP), Mudrick Sangidoe and PPP Charismatic Ulama Leader KH. Maimun Zubair.
“There is a very harmonious relationship both in terms of personnel and institutional parties who always cooperate politically and stay in touch with each other,” he said.
In addition, the PPP – PDIP offices are next door or next to each other on Jl Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta which is a symbol of a strong close relationship for PPP and PDIP.
