United Nations (Rifyu.com) – The world’s largest international organization, the United Nations (UN), has condemned the deadly airstrikes that killed and injured dozens of civilians, including toddlers, in Ukraine.
At least 14 people, including a three-year-old toddler, were killed on Friday in a series of Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
The UN’s acting humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine, Matthew Hollingsworth, said that indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas must stop.
“This is an important reminder that civilians and civilian infrastructure are protected under international and humanitarian law, and they must not be targeted,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
Deadly attacks were also reported in the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk.
A missile hit a bus carrying civilians in central Donetsk and left seven people dead and eight injured, Donetsk Mayor Alexey Kulemzin told Russia’s TASS news agency.
According to UN figures, more than 8,500 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and 15,000 others injured since Russia launched war on Kiev on February 24, 2022.
