Moscow (Rifyu.com) – More than 3,000 residents will be evacuated from the Russian city of Belgorod after explosives were found, the local governor said Saturday.
The explosives were found two days after a Russian fighter jet accidentally dropped a bomb on the city bordering Ukraine.
Bomb experts from the military have decided to “neutralize” the explosives at a training ground, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.
He said the operational headquarters would vacate 17 apartment buildings within a 200 meter radius with a total number of occupants of more than 3,000 people.
“Anyone who needs help with temporary accommodation will be provided,” he said.
On Thursday, a Russian Sukhoi-34 supersonic fighter jet accidentally dropped a bomb over Belgorod causing an explosion and wounding three people, according to Russian officials.
It is unclear whether the two incidents are related.
