Rifyu.com – Japan’s population is expected to shrink to 87 million in 2070, down 30 percent compared to 2020, the Japanese government said Wednesday (26/4). The Japanese National Population and Social Security Research Institute released projections that the population aged 65 and over will reach 33.67 million, or 38.7 percent of Japan’s total population, by 2070. The working age population, aged 15 to 64, is expected to dropped sharply to 45.35 million people in 2070, down 40 percent from the previous 75.9 million people in 2020.
