Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra (Rifyu.com) – A minibus driven by Eid 2023 travelers skidded and crashed into a road shoulder barrier while crossing the Trans Sumatra Toll Road Indralaya-Prabumulih section, South Sumatra, Saturday.

Head of the Ogan Ilir Police Traffic Unit AKP Putu Eka, in Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, Saturday, said the black Toyota Fortuner minibus was carrying five passengers including a driver.

Those who are one family crossed in from the direction of Palembang City through the Palembang – Indralaya Toll Gate heading to Prabumulih City.

Initially, the journey of the car with police number BG – 1264 – KE passed smoothly at an average speed of 80 – 100 kilometers per hour as recommended by the toll management.

The average speed of these vehicles is given by the toll management, considering that the construction of the Indralaya-Prabumulih toll road has not been fully completed, so elevation is still common along most roads.

However, according to him, based on the investigation of the incident, police officers and the toll alert assistance team increased the speed of their vehicle when they were halfway there or a few meters approaching the Prabumulih area.

“The driver was allegedly not careful and drove over 80-100 kilometers until the car skidded around 14.00 WIB, at that time it also happened to be raining heavily, then the car hit the road divider on the left and flipped over until it was damaged in front,” he said.

Police confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. However, the driver, a middle-aged man, suffered injuries to his body and was immediately evacuated by officers to the nearest hospital.

He said four other passengers consisting of two children and two adults were currently still experiencing trauma at the hospital.

“The car body was towed from the location at KM 33 of the Indralaya section to the outside of the toll road. The traffic flow was safe and smooth until the toll road which was functioning was closed at 16.00 WIB,” said Putu Eka.
