Kulon Progo ( – As many as 28 residents of the Wates Class II B State Detention Center, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, received special remission for Eid al-Fitr 2023, one of whom was immediately released after receiving the remission.

Head of Class II B Rutan Wates Erik Murdiyanto in his statement in Kulon Progo, Sunday, said that the Eid remission this time was a little different, bearing in mind that starting 2023 the good behavior of inmates is measured based on the scores listed in the Prisoner Development Assessment System (SPPN) so that it is more accurate.

“In the Class II B Rutan Wates there are 28 assisted residents who received Eid remissions, one person who received remissions was declared free that day,” said Erik.

He said remission is a reward for inmates who behave well and follow training properly. Assessment is carried out not only from observation, but already using an assessment system, namely the Prisoner Development Assessment System (SPPN).

“In accordance with Law 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections, we, the DIY Kemenkumham Regional Office, continue to implement the correctional system as best we can and thank God that until now the DIY Kemenkumham Regional Office continues to ‘Shine His Heart’ (clean from drugs, cell phones and others),” he said.

Erik said remission for inmates at the Wates Detention Center was given in accordance with Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Second Amendment to Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 3 of 2018 concerning Terms and Procedures for Granting Remission, Assimilation, Leave to Visit Family , Parole, Leave Before Release.

Special Eid al-Fitr remission is given to Muslim convicts who have served a sentence of at least six months.

“Apart from that, they also have to have good behavior, actively participate in coaching programs and have shown a reduced level of risk,” he said.

Previously, the Head of the Correctional Division of the DIY Kemenkumham Regional Office, Gusti Ayu Putu Suwardani, said that as many as 1,161 inmates in prisons and detention centers in the DIY area received special remissions for Eid al-Fitr 2023.

“In detail, 1,140 people received special remission I and 21 other people received special remission II or were declared free,” he explained.
