Jakarta (Rifyu.com) – The latest Indo Barometer survey has placed Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir as the strongest candidate for vice president (cawapres) in the 2024 election.

“The name of our survey that has the highest score is Erick Thohir, the figure is 22 percent,” said Executive Director of Indo Barometer M. Qodari in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Qodari explained that Erick Thohir was in the top position with the acquisition of public electability of 22.9 percent, followed by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa at 15.8 percent, and Muhaimin Iskandar 6.7 percent.

According to him, the reason for Erick Thohir’s high selection was seen as a form of public appreciation for his performance at the Ministry of BUMN.

This is reflected in the survey data which positioned Erick Thohir at the top as the best performing minister in the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin Indonesian Forward Cabinet at 9.0 percent or under Prabowo Subianto’s 12.4 percent. Furthermore, Sandiaga Uno 7.6 percent, Tri Rismaharini 5.7 percent, and Sri Mulyani 4.2 percent.

“One of the things that can be seen from the survey results is the assessment as one of the ministers with the best performance. Even though the best minister is still Pak Prabowo Subianto, Erick is number 2 then number 3 is Sandiaga Uno, then there is Risma and there is Sri Mulyani,” he said.

The interesting thing in the 2024 presidential election, he said, is that the cawapres figure will determine victory. Of the various names of presidential candidates currently circulating, there are only three names that are always at the top and the difference in their votes being elected is very thin.

“In my opinion the cawapres is very decisive because the electability of the three strongest presidential candidates today is slightly different, so the determining variable apart from Pak Jokowi is the vice presidential candidate,” he stressed.

He said that the presidential candidates in the future would decide to choose a vice presidential candidate who could boost electability. When referring to survey data, it is in the name of Erick Thohir, who is the public’s choice as the strongest vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

“Erick Thohir is the highest, of course Erick has the potential to help win whoever the presidential candidate he will accompany,” he said.

Interestingly, according to him, Erick Thohir has now received a signal of support from PAN and PPP as a vice presidential candidate in 2024. This is a big capital for the General Chair of PSSI to run for the 2024 presidential election as vice presidential candidate.

The survey was conducted from 12-24 February 2023. The survey was conducted in 33 provinces involving 1,230 respondents. The survey is claimed to have a confidence level of 95 percent margin of error approximately 2.9 percent.

Registration for the presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled for 19 October 2023 to 25 November 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU General Election), the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election that meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes. nationally in the previous parliamentary elections.

Currently there are 575 seats in parliament so the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election must have the support of at least 115 seats in the Indonesian Parliament. Candidate pairs can also be carried by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a minimum total of 34,992,703 valid votes.
